FIRST-EVER WINTER CONTEMPORARY ARTS FESTIVAL
IN DOWNTOWN PITTSFIELD ATTRACTS MORE THAN 3,000 PATRONS
44 performances featured more than 120 new works
including plays, songwriters, poets, visual art, film, dance and more

(PITTSFIELD, MA) March 19, 2012 – The numbers are in! 10X10 On North, the Berkshires’ first-ever winter contemporary arts festival, which creatively enlivened downtown Pittsfield for 11 days from February 16-26 with a dynamic mix of new art, dance, film, music, plays, and more, attracted more than 3,000 visitors in its first year.

Spearheaded by Barrington Stage in partnership with the City of Pittsfield, 10X10 On North was generously sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union, Berkshire Gas, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The Berkshire Eagle was the lead media sponsor.

Lead partners included the Beacon Cinema, Berkshire Actors Theatre, Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), Downtown Pittsfield Inc., Ferrin Gallery, Gallery 25, Lichtenstein Center for the Arts and the City of Pittsfield, Mission Bar + Tapas, New Stage Performing Arts Center, Pittsfield Bra & Girl, Shawn’s Barber Shop and Y Bar.

A total of 44 performances from February 16-26 featuring more than 120 new works ranging from plays to poets to paintings were presented, including more than 50 works specifically created for 10X10 On North.

Downtown restaurants saw higher than usual traffic compared to normal business during the winter months.

With the success of the inaugural 10X10 On North, plans are underway to present the 2nd annual 10X10 festival February 14-24, 2013.

“The 10X10 On North Festival adds to the city of Pittsfield’s year-round vibrancy and helps make our community more attractive to new businesses, new residents and new visitors,” said Mayor Daniel Bianchi. “I look forward to seeing an even bigger impact in 2013.”
