It’s Monday! Possibly not my favorite day of the week, but I joined about five other people from the office to go get coffee this morning, so I’m ready and rearing to go! Mmmmm soy lattes…

Aside from caffeine, there’s plenty to be excited about here. On Saturday, we had our first official production meeting for Into The Woods, our Youth Theatre production for this summer. It was so exciting to hear the director and designers talk about their plans. It’s going to be a great production, really focused on the telling of the story. Sondheim is one of the best musical theatre creators in that sense- he really knows how to tell a beautiful story. It’s so great to do two of Sondheim’s this summer- Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods!! Plus, for some reason, I’ve been addicted to the West Side Story soundtrack lately. I’ve been blasting it and singing along as much as possible.

Could life get any better? I think not.

KidsAct! is arriving soon, too. We’re sending out packets to signed-up kids as I type! There are still spots available, though, so don’t hesitate to contact us and sign up your little future star! The other day, I had the pleasure of meeting Justina, who is the director of KidsAct! this year. The students are so lucky; she’s so nice and cares so much about KidsAct!. I’m excited and I’m not even a student!

As for being an intern, life is great. I feel like everytime I spend time with other interns, the conversation always goes back to being about theatre. I love that! It really is a unique experience to be with artists in my generation from all over, and, at the same time, experienced artists who are supervising our learning.

That’s it for now. So much is happening this week, though, there might be a “Week Two: Second Edition” soon enough.

I’m going to go listen to West Side Story now… or maybe I’ll switch it up and start listening to Into The Woods or Sweeney Todd… so many good options.

Happy Monday!
