(Pittsfield, MA– March 15, 2016) Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, announced today two additional productions for their 2016 season, in addition to two one-night-only special events.

Following its world premiere at Yale Repertory Theater, Peerless by Jiehae Park (Hannah and the Dread Gazebo, Wondrous Strange), and directed by Margot Bordelon (Okay, Bye; At the Rich Relatives), will be the third production for the St. Germain Stage, with previews beginning July 21, 2016, opening night set for July 24, 2016, and running through August 6th, 2016.

How far would you go to get into the college of your choice? When brilliant, ambitious twin sisters L and M realize that perfect academics and superb extracurricular activities aren’t enough to get into their dream college, they decide to take matters into their own hands. Peerless is a comedy … until it isn’t.

Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for Peerless and the entire 2016 BSC season are on sale now. The Peerless performance schedule is as follows: July 21-July 23, 7:30pm; July 24, 3:00pm.; July 26- July 30, 7:30 pm; July 30- July 31, 3:00pm; August 2, 7:30pm; August 3, 7:30pm; August 4, 3:00pm & 7:30pm; August 5, 7:30pm; August 6, 3:00pm & 7:30pm.

In addition to Peerless, BSC also announced today a special production of Love Letters, directed by Julianne Boyd and starring BSC favorites Mark H. Performances begin September 22, 2016, with opening night set for September 23, 2016, running through October 2, 2016.

A Pulitzer Prize finalist, written by A.R. Gurney, Love Letters has been performed all over the country. Love Letters is a touching, funny and ultimately moving story of a 50-year old correspondence between two childhood friends whose relationship weathers time and distance.

Tickets for Love Letters are on sale now. The performance schedule for Love Letters is as follows: September 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and October 1 at 7:30pm; September 24-25 and October 1-2 at 3:00pm.

BSC also announced today two special one-night-only performances for the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. On Monday, July 25, 2016 at 8pm, Ann Hampton Callaway and Amanda McBroom will appear in Divalicious, an exciting evening of beautiful music with two of today’s most celebrated song-writing divas. Jazz great Ann Hampton Callaway and cabaret star Amanda McBroom will be accompanied by yet another great song writer, Michael Brourman. This is a rare opportunity to hear these two sisters in song sharing the same stage. Not to be missed!

On Monday, August 8, 2016 at 8pm, married stars Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley return to BSC in Broadway and Beyond: Reprise Edition after their tremendously successful concert at BSC last summer. Come celebrate life, music and love – as Marin and Jason share their love for Broadway and the Great American Songbook. “‘Broadway and Beyond’ is musical perfection. The couple’s dramatic and comedic acting ability, irresistible personalities and good looks, enthralled the audience who couldn’t wait to give them a standing ovation.”   (Times Square Chronicles)

Tickets for these special performances range from $40-$52. VIP tickets, which include premium seating, a post-show perception, and a cast meet-and greet, are available for $80.

The 2016 season at BSC will include the world premieres of two new musicals—Broadway Bounty Hunter on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, and Presto Change-O on the St. Germain Stage. Jonathan Larson Award winning composer Joe Iconis’s Broadway Bounty Hunter, starring Annie Golden, features a book by Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin and Jason SweetTooth Williams, and direction by Leah C. Gardiner. Presto Change-O features music by Joel Waggoner, book and lyrics by Eric Price, and direction by Marc Bruni of Broadway’s Beautiful The Carole King Musical. The Tony Award winning director John Rando and Emmy Award winning choreographer Joshua Bergasse, the team behind the acclaimed and Tony Award nominated Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN, will reunite to stage Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.

2016 will also bring to BSC the world premiere of Christopher Demos-Brown’s American Son, winner of the prestigious Laurents/Hatcher Award for Best New Play of 2016; Kimberly Akimbo by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire; the acclaimed Drama Desk Award winning play Tribes by Nina Raine; and Mark St. Germain’s Camping with Henry and Tom, the recipient of both the Outer Critics Circle Award and the Lucille Lortel Award.

ABOUT BARRINGTON STAGE COMPANY

Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage’s mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre—especially young people.  Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway and played for two years. St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth (which premiered at BSC as Dr. Ruth, All the Way in 2012) played Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in fall 2013. BSC’s all-time record-breaking musical, On the Town, originally presented in 2013, opened on Broadway in 2014 with BSC as a co-producer, where it was nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival. Barrington Stage was voted “Best Live Theatre” by The Berkshire Eagle readers in 2011 and 2012 and was named “Best Theatre Company” in Metroland’s Best of the Capital Region 2009-2012.
