BARRINGTON STAGE COMPANY WELCOMES NEW BOARD LEADERSHIP

(PITTSFIELD, MA)  Barrington Stage Company (BSC), a not-for-profit professional theatre company in the Berkshires, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, is proud to announce the elections of Mary Ann Quinson as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Marita O’Dea Glodt as President of the Board of Trustees.  The Board also elected Rosita Sarnoff as Vice-President, Heather Nolin as Secretary and Ira Yohalem as Treasurer.

Co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, Barrington Stage is dedicated to producing top-notch, compelling work; to developing new plays and musicals; and to finding fresh, bold ways of bringing new audiences into the theatre, especially young people. Ms. Boyd said of the Board changes: “The staff is extremely fortunate to have such a strong, dynamic Board. We are twice blessed having Mary Ann as Chairman and Marita as President as we begin our 20th Anniversary year.”

Mary Ann Quinson, who served as the Board’s founding President for the past 19 years, transitions to the newly created position of Chairman. “I have taken great pleasure in my role as President and working with Julianne Boyd as Barrington Stage has grown from a fledgling dream to a dream come true,” said Ms. Quinson, adding that in her new role she “plans to remain as active as ever as we continue to grow and deliver great theater to our growing perceptive and appreciative audiences.”

“It is a privilege to support the arts in Pittsfield and Berkshire County as Board President of this outstanding theatre company,” said Ms. Glodt, who served as Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resource Officer of Neiman Marcus Group Inc. until her retirement in 2011 and joined the BSC Board as Vice-President that same year. “Mary Ann Quinson has set the standard for effective Board leadership, and I am grateful to her and our entire Board for their confidence.”

The 2014 Season will celebrate the theater’s 20th Anniversary, and two productions have already been announced: Kiss Me, Kate the musical comedy masterpiece by composer Cole Porter and authors Sam and Bella Spewack and the world premiere romantic comedy Dancing Lessons by Mark St. Germain. Even as Barrington Stage Company celebrates past achievements and the talent that made it possible, the company is looking to the future and to promoting its three-fold mission. With this enhancement of leadership the company will continue to develop new and meaningful ways to engage with the local Pittsfield community and the greater Berkshire County region it calls home.

About Barrington Stage Company
Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage’s mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre—especially young people. Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it workshopped, and premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway and played for two years. St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth (which premiered at BSC as Dr. Ruth, All the Way in 2012) is now playing Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre. Barrington Stage was voted “Best Live Theatre” by The Berkshire Eagle readers in 2011 and 2012 and was named “Best Theatre Company” in Metroland’s Best of the Capital Region 2009-2012.
