Congratulations to the following Barrington Stage alum on their latest Broadway successes!

Tom Kitt (Musical Director on the 2007 workshop of The Mysteries of Harris Burdick) is the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer for Next to Normal. Tom is also credited as Musical Supervisor/Arrangements/Orchestrations
for Green Day’s hit Broadway show American Idiot.

On stage in American Idiot are Alysha Umphress (BSC’s Funked Up Fairy Tales and Songs by…) and Miguel Cervantes (Spelling Bee, 2008, and the Pool Boy reading, 2009). Tony Award-winner Marin Mazzie (Blanche DuBois in BSC’s acclaimed 2009 production of A Streetcar Named Desire) is currently starring in the new Broadway production of Enron and Sarah O’Gleby (Dance Captain, Carousel 2009) made her Broadway debut this year in Promises, Promises (Swing).

And previewing Off-Broadway last weekend at Playwrights Horizons is The Burnt Part Boys by Mariana Elder, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen, which was the first production developed in BSC’s Musical Theatre Lab (2006). The New York premiere includes original actor Charlie Brady and features most of the original creative team, including Brian Prather (Scenic Design), Elizabeth Flauto (Costume Design), Chris Lee (Lighting Design) and Direction and Musical Staging by Joe Calarco.

And special congratulations to Barry Wyner who received the 2010 Kleban Prize for Most Promising Musical Theater Librettist (which carries a $100,000 prize). His production of Calvin Berger was first seen by Musical Theatre Lab audiences at Barrington Stage in 2007.
