Join Barrington Stage Company in New York City to benefit our New Works Initiative.
We invite you to join us at the “Barrington Stage Company in New York City Benefit” on Monday, November 2nd to celebrate our New Works Initiative. The party will be held in the Penthouse of the American Airlines Theatre at 227 W 42nd Street and will begin at 6:00 PM with a cocktail reception. We will present a first look at two of BSC’s New Works that will be premiering in our 2016 season:
Scenes from:
AMERICAN SON
by Christopher Demos-Brown
An estranged bi-racial couple must confront their feelings about race and bias after their son is detained by the local police following a traffic stop incident. Their disparate backgrounds inform their assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son.
American Son was commissioned through the generosity of Roz and Charles Stuzin.
Songs from:
PRESTO CHANGE-O
Book and Lyrics by Eric Price
Music By Joel Waggoner
A new musical about three generations of illusionists – and the woman who loves all of them – as they learn to co-exist, make amends, and reconcile what is truth and illusion in their own lives.
Presto Change-O was commissioned through the generosity of Carole & Dan Burack.
All proceeds benefit BSC’s New Works Initiative.
This event will benefit BSC’s New Works Initiative, a vital program that nurtures the creation of new plays and musicals – the heart and soul of vibrant theater. Over the years, BSC has produced more than twenty world premieres with nine of our original works moving on to stages in New York City, including the Tony-nominated On the Town and the award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Freud’s Last Session and Becoming Dr. Ruth.
