	SLATER ASHENHURST (Frid) is jazzed to be making his East Coast debut at BSC, a theatre he has admired from afar for years! She is a graduate of the musical theatre department at the University of Michigan, where she played Franca in The Light in the Piazza and Stephano in The Tempest. 	MARY BETH PEIL* (Madame Armfeldt) is an Obie Award-winning and two-time Tony Award-nominated actress who has made careers from the world of Opera to Stage and Screen. Winning the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions launched two decades as a leading soprano during which she originated the role of Alma in Lee Hoiby’s Summer and Smoke, sang with NYCity Opera, Young Concert Artists and many others. She began her second career on Broadway opposite Yul Brynner in The King and I. Other Broadway productions include Nine, Sunday in the Park with George, Women on the Verge, Follies, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Anastasia. On TV she created the roles of Grams in Dawson’s Creek, Jackie in The Good Wife and was most recently seen as Martha Graham in Halston. 	REBECCA PITCHER* (Mrs. Nordstrom) is best known for her portrayal of Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera where she appeared in over 3000 performances including Broadway, US National tour and Singapore. Other performances include An American in Paris International Tour, Jack O’Brien’s 2018 Broadway revival of Carousel and The Sound of Music National Tour; as well as Mary Poppins, Amalia (She Loves Me), Grace Farrell (Annie), Christine (Yeston-Koppits Phantom), Nimue (Camelot), Lisette (La Rondine), Monica (The Medium) and Rose (Street Scene). 	TERI RALSTON* (Madame Armfeldt u/s) BSC: Carousel. Teri was in the original Broadway production of A Little Night Music. Prior to this, she was in the original production of Company creating the role of Jenny, and her association with Mr. Sondheim has continued over the years. She has been in or directed 10 of his works including playing Sally in Follies and Mama Rose in Gypsy. She has done many productions of Side by Side by Sondheim, including one with Peggy Lee, which she also directed. Teri has also had a long association with Stephen Schwartz, originally in the Broadway-bound The Baker’s Wife for which he wrote Chanson for her. She is featured on 7 original cast albums, has performed her cabaret shows around the country and done way too many roles in summer stock to mention and her TV appearances are numerous.

STEPHEN SONDHEIM (Music & Lyrics) wrote the music and lyrics for Saturday Night (1954), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1962), Anyone Can Whistle (1964), Company (1970), Follies (1971), A Little Night Music (1973), The Frogs (1974), Pacific Overtures (1976), Sweeney Todd (1979), Merrily We Roll Along (1981), Sunday in the Park with George (1984), Into the Woods (1987), Assassins (1991), Passion (1994) and Road Show (2008) as well as lyrics for West Side Story (1957), Gypsy (1959) and Do I Hear a Waltz? (1965) and additional lyrics for Candide (1973). Anthologies of his work include Side by Side by Sondheim (1976), Marry Me A Little (1981), You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow (1983), Putting It Together (1993/99) and Sondheim on Sondheim (2010). He composed the scores of the films Stavisky (1974) and Reds (1981) and songs for Dick Tracy (1990) and the television production Evening Primrose (1966). His collected lyrics with attendant essays have been published in two volumes: Finishing the Hat (2010) and Look, I Made a Hat (2011). In 2010 the Broadway theatre formerly known as Henry Miller’s Theatre was renamed in his honor.

HUGH WHEELER (Book) was a novelist, playwright and screenwriter. He wrote more than 30 mystery novels under the pseudonyms Q. Patrick and Patrick Quentin, and four of his novels were transformed into films: Black Widow, Man in the Net, The Green-Eyed Monster and The Man with Two Wives. For films, he wrote the screenplays for Travels with My Aunt, Something for Everyone, A Little Night Music and Nijinsky. His plays include Big Fish, Little Fish (1961), Look: We’ve Come Through (1961) and We Have Always Lived in the Castle (1966, adapted from the Shirley Jackson novel), he co-authored with Joseph Stein the book for a new production of the 1919 musical Irene (1973), wrote the books for A Little Night Music (1973), a new production of Candide (1973), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1979, based on a version of the play by Christopher Bond), and Meet Me in St. Louis (adapted from the 1949 MGM musical), contributed additional material for the musical Pacific Overtures (1976), and wrote a new adaptation of the Kurt Weill opera Silverlake, which was directed by Harold Prince at the New York Opera. He received Tony and Drama Desk Awards for A Little Night Music, Candide and Sweeney Todd. Prior to his death in 1987 Mr. Wheeler was working on two new musicals, Bodo and Fu Manchu, and a new adaptation of The Merry Widow.

JULIANNE BOYD† (Director) is the Founder (1995) and Artistic Director of Barrington Stage Company (BSC) where she has directed many productions, including the critically acclaimed West Side Story (2018) and the 2017 hit production of Company, starring Aaron Tveit. She also directed the world premiere of Christopher Demos-Brown’s American Son, which won the Laurents-Hatcher Award for Best New Play by an Emerging Playwright in 2016. Other productions include the world premieres of Mark St. Germain’s Dancing Lessons, The Best of Enemies and Dr. Ruth, All the Way and the critically acclaimed revival of Goldman and Sondheim’s Follies. In 1997 she directed BSC’s smash hit production of Cabaret, which won six Boston Theater Critics Awards and transferred to the Hasty Pudding Theatre in Cambridge for an extended run.

Boyd conceived and directed the Broadway musical Eubie!, a show based on the music of Eubie Blake which starred Gregory Hines and garnered three Tony nominations. She also co-conceived and directed (with Joan Micklin Silver) the award-winning Off Broadway musical revue A…My Name Is Alice (Outer Critics’ Award) and its sequel A…My Name Is Still Alice.

In 2000 Ms. Boyd created the Playwright Mentoring Project, BSC’s underserved youth program that won the prestigious Coming Up Taller Award in 2007. In 2015, the Playwright Mentoring Project also won the Commonwealth Award for Creative Youth Development. From 1992 to 1998 Ms. Boyd served as President of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, the national labor union representing professional directors and choreographers in the U.S.

She and her husband Norman have three grown children.

ROBERT LA FOSSE† (Choreographer) BSC: West Side Story. Mr. La Fosse was invited by Jerome Robbins to join the New York City Ballet in 1986 as a principal dancer after a nine-year career with American Ballet Theatre where he danced leading roles in many of the full-length classics. During his career with NYCB, Mr. La Fosse originated the role of Tony in Jerome Robbins’ West Side Story Suite. For the Broadway stage, Mr. La Fosse starred in Bob Fosse’s Dancin’ and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, for which he received a 1989 Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. In addition to his performing career, Mr. La Fosse has choreographed over 100 works for ballet, opera, musical theatre, film and TV. He is currently on faculty at American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Onassis School and stages the works of Jerome Robbins throughout the world.

CHARLIE SIEDENBURG (Berkshires Press Representative) (Associate Artist, 18^th Season) joined the BSC family in 2005 and has represented over 150 BSC productions. His work has led to features in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Associated Press and American Theatre Magazine. His many PR credits include the Metropolitan Opera (Live in HD), Paper Mill Playhouse, George Street Playhouse, Hartford Stage, Goodspeed Musicals, Long Wharf Theatre, Surflight Theatre and Two River Theater Company. He serves as Press Rep for Wagner College Theatre, The Minty Awards, Ghostlight Productions and Forestburgh Playhouse. Charlie is a 1995 Theatre/Arts Administration graduate of Wagner College on Staten Island, where he currently teaches Theatre Appreciation.
