Celebrating
Bruno & Mary Ann Quinson
(Founding Board President and Honorary Board Chair)
Since its founding in 1995, Mary Ann (Minkie) Quinson served as Board President for 19 years, before becoming Board Chair. Under her leadership, BSC has grown from a school auditorium in Sheffield to a nationally recognized regional theater with five buildings in Pittsfield and over 40,000 patrons a year.
Minkie graduated from Smith College and received a master’s from Columbia Universityās School of Social Work. She did extensive casework with various hospitals, including Gracie Square Hospital, the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and had a private practice for decades.
Bruno Quinsonās book publishing career began at Simon & Schuster in 1960, after he graduated from Williams College and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1988, he became CEO, Publisher, and President of Henry Holt & Co., a subsidiary of the Holtzbrinck Publishing empire out of Stuttgart, Germany, from which he retired in 1996.
Today, Bruno serves on the board of the Barrington Stage Supporting Foundation, and Minkie is the Honorary Board Chair of the Board Emeritus. Their decades of tireless advocacy and support have served as BSCās proverbial backbone, without which BSC would not have attained the breadth of programming, artistic influence, and institutional longevity it enjoys today. In short, there is no BSC without the commitment and passion of the Quinsons.
