“Anything can happen in the woods.” This is the promise, and premise, of the much-loved Tony-Award winning musical Into the Woods.
A childless baker and his wife endeavor to lift their family curse by journeying into the woods where they encounter Rapunzel and her mother, Cinderella, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), Little Red Riding Hood and other classic fairy tale characters. Their stories become entangled in unexpected ways – revealing what happens after “happily ever after.”
The wickedly witty score weaves a magical spell, warning “be careful what you wish for.”

*Children under the age of 5 are not permitted in the theatre.

Sponsored in part by The Feigenbaum Foundation & Marvin Seline

“I don’t think you could ask for a more satisfying, fully rewarding evening in the theater…If you’ve never seen “Into the Woods” onstage, this masterly production is a richly rewarding introduction.”
—The Berkshire Eagle

“Of the dozen or so times I’ve gone into the Woods in 30-plus years, Barrington’s production is easily the most committed and emotionally rewarding experience…Joe Calarco has assembled a remarkable cast that surprises at every turn.”
—New York Stage Review

“Barrington Stage Company’s Into the Woods is the most uniquely and coherently conceived and the most dramatically satisfying production of the 1982 Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine classic I’d wish to see. It’s also ravishingly beautiful with a thoroughly original visual style and perfectly cast and acted with lyrics articulated with more clarity than I’ve heard before. It’s totally entrancing.”
—Off-Script with Dan Dwyer

“A Triumph!”

“This production is the finest I’ve seen and a memorable experience from top to bottom. If it hasn’t already sold out, get your tickets fast.”
