Laura Shaine Cunningham (Playwright, Fugu)

Fugu is about two couples who have an ongoing culinary rivalry. Over the years it has turned from a fun get-together into a vicious battle over who can prepare the most obscure haute gourmet dinner.

Fugu is brand new. I am just finishing a full length play called BITE – The Culinary Comedies which is made up of related ā€œcoursesā€ – a tasting menu that offers a full evening which revolves around cuisine.

Laura Shaine Cunningham is a self-described ā€œtrans-genreā€ playwright. She is a memoirist, a novelist and a frequent contributer to The New York Times, The New York Observer, and The London Times. Her books have been excerpted in The New Yorker magazine. Her first play, Bang, premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre.
