Suzanne Bradbeer (Playwright, God in the Goat)

In God in the Goat, a member of the paparazzi starts a conversation with an old girlfriend of a celebrity that has just passed.

Largely inspired by the death of Heath Ledger, and specifically the commotion surrounding the discovery of his body and the subsequent circus outside of the apartment building where he was found.

Suzanne has a “reflexive disdain for the paparazzi,” but she finds that sometimes the cold brashness is simply a disguise for some deep seeded pain or loss. She expanded on that idea and eventually thought of her close friend who died many years ago. She remembers going to the wake and not being sure how to relate to the body in front of her.

She combined that memory with an old boyfriend who used to walk the streets ofNew Yorkafter their shifts at the French Restaurant that they worked at. It left her with this question, did he ever think of her?
