It has been two days since Fiddler On The Roof officially opened here at Barrington Stage Company, and I am still feeling the rush from such an event! From the talk-back with the lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, to the party that followed the show, I had chills running down my spine. Since the first day of rehearsal back on May 22nd, I have been checking in with myself after each day, and I don’t think there has been one that hasn’t been incredible.
I applied to be a Musical Theatre Apprentice back in January, really hoping that I would get to spend my summer working here. I had heard a lot about Barrington Stage Company from friends as well as online, and had seen the starry line-up of performers that have been featured in their productions. However, I was unaware of how realistic my chances were of being selected as one of the four apprentices for the summer of 2012. So far this summer has been the most rewarding of my life. I still can’t believe some of the people whom I am sharing the stage with every night. I wait in the wings eager to start the opening number (“Tradition”), and I get chills thinking about the reality of what I am doing. I look forward to the rest of the run of Fiddler On The Roof and will truly cherish each moment.
As for the rest of my summer’s agenda, I truly can’t wait! I look forward to the master classes, cabarets, and the reading of a new musical in which I will be performing. I am so grateful to Barrington Stage Company for giving me this truly wonderful opportunity!
