(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theatre Lab (MTL), under the leadership of MTL Artistic Producer William Finn and Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, will present a reading of the new musical, Fall Springs, with music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos (Pool Boy, Into the Wild) and book and lyrics by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb (Boom), on August 30 and 31 at the St. Germain Stage.

From the creator of Pool Boy comes Fall Springs, an irreverent, funny and relevant new musical. The town of Fall Springs is cash-strapped but sits directly on top of America’s largest reserve of cosmetic essential oils. It has big dreams but at what cost? With new fracking techniques being recklessly implemented, the ground beneath Fall Springs is crumbling. Boulders, buildings, and the occasional bartender are being swallowed into the ground. And that’s only the beginning.

Directed by Stephen Brackett (Be More Chill), music direction by Brad Gardner, and vocal arrangements by Angelique Mouyis, Fall Springs features Alyse Alan Louis (City Center Encores A New Brain) as “Eloise Bradley,” Alan H. Green (BSC’s The Royal Family of Broadway) as “Mayor Robert Bradley,” Ken Marks (Dear Evan Hansen) as “Noland Wolanske,” Ellen Harvey (BSC’s Company) as “Beverly Cushman,” Sam Heldt as “Felix Cushman,” John-Andrew Morrison as “Roberto Mariposa,” Cami Arboles as “Vera Mariposa,” Noah Virgile as “Cooper Mitford.”

About BSC’s Musical Theatre Lab
BSC’s commitment to new work is also seen in the acclaimed Musical Theatre Lab (MTL). MTL was created after BSC workshopped and premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2004). It was in response to musical theatre writers not having a home to develop their shows.

The Musical Theatre Lab is a place for musical theatre writers to develop their work on all levels: from staged readings to workshops to full productions. Since its creation in 2006, 14 world premieres and 6 workshops of new musicals have been produced, and many have moved on to New York and around the country.
