(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in the Berkshires, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, announced today that Associate Artist Christopher Innvar will play “Torvald” in Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House, Part 2. Innvar replaces the previously announced Shuler Hensley.
Previews for A Doll’s House, Part 2 begin June 21, with an official opening night on June 24, with performances through July 15 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage (30 Union Street).
Innvar’s many BSC credits include leading roles in The Game, Cyrano De Bergerac, The Importance Of Being Earnest, Ring Round The Moon, Private Lives, Carousel, A Streetcar Named Desire, Absurd Person Singular, The Crucible, Much Ado About Nothing, His Girl Friday. At BSC he has directed The Other Place, The Whipping Man, Shining City and Mark St. Germain’s Period Piece/Collyer Brothers and Camping With Henry and Tom. Innvar was seen last year on the screen in the acclaimed film, The Post. Recent TV credits include The Sinner, The Blacklist: Redemption and Chicago Fire. His Broadway credits include: Victor/Victoria, Les Miserables, The Three Penny Opera, 110 In The Shade, The People In The Picture, The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and The Snow Geese. Off Broadway credits include the title role in Floyd Collins at Playwrights Horizons, recorded on Nonesuch Records, NYSF’s King Lear at the Delacorte, Atlantic Theatre, Vineyard, Transport Group, Red Bull, MTC and Lincoln Center. Most recent acting work playing Banquo in Dan Sullivan’s Macbeth at Berkeley Rep opposite Conleth Hill and Frances McDormand. Other regional work at Steppenwolf, Guthrie, Yale Rep, Long Wharf, Wilma and more. He is an affiliated artist with The Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC. His latest play Turtles was published in a compilation of short plays for teens by Applause Books in June of 2017.
Directed by BSC Associate Artist Joe Calarco (Ragtime, Breaking the Code). A Doll’s House, Part 2 also stars Laila Robins (“Deception”) as “Nora,” Ashley Bufkin as “Emmy,” and Mary Stout as “Anne Marie.”
In the final scene of Ibsen’s 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children and begin a life on her own. A Doll’s House, Part 2 dares to wonder what Ibsen’s Nora has been up to since she slammed the door.

Barrington Stage Company is a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA.
