Book by WILLIAM FINN and JAMES LAPINE
Musical Direction by VADIM FEICHTNER
Choreographed by CHLOE O. DAVIS
Directed by JOE CALARCO
In Association with Williamstown Theatre Festival
AUGUST 16–SEPTEMBER 10
Boyd-Quinson Stage
30 Union Street, Pittsfield, MA
This performance runs approximately 100 minutes, with no intermission.
Gordon Schwinn, a frustrated composer for a children’s TV show, finds himself in the hospital. There he contemplates his life, relationships, and the meaning of music while facing medical uncertainty and hauntings by an imaginary frog from the show he’s composing for. A New Brain by Tony Award-winning composer & BSC Associate Artist William Finn is a touching, unexpectedly funny, and relatable musical exploring life’s beauty when we take the time to appreciate it.
William Finn, the mastermind behind Broadway & Off Broadway hits like The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Falsettos and Little Miss Sunshine, continues to captivate audiences with his emotive storytelling and soul-stirring melodies. BSC is thrilled to present one of his most heartfelt creations, A New Brain.
William Finn’s musical genius shines through in every note. From infectious, toe-tapping tunes to heartrending ballads that tug at your heartstrings, A New Brain delivers an emotional rollercoaster that leaves audiences laughing, crying and singing along.
