Ruth: Clybourne Park? Mama, there ain’t no colored people living in Clybourne Park.
Mama: Well, I guess there’s going to be some now.

Barrington Stage Company presents
The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize Winner
CLYBOURNE PARK
Directed by Giovanna Sardelli
September 26-October 13 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage
(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, presents the Pulitzer and Tony-winning Clybourne Park from September 26 through October 13, on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. The press opening is Sunday, September 29 at 3pm.
Winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and 2012 Tony Award, Clybourne Park is directed by Giovanna Sardelli (BSC’s Muckrakers, Lord of the Flies and The North Pool). Sardelli was featured earlier this year in the Sunday New York Times Arts & Leisure cover story about influential female directors. Clybourne Park is a co-production with Vermont’s Dorset Theatre Festival (Dina Janis, Artistic Director).
Inspired by A Raisin in the Sun, this wickedly funny and fiercely provocative play about race, real estate, and the volatile values of each won nearly every honor the theatre has to give, including the Tony Award for Best Play, Olivier Award, the Evening Standard Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
Clybourne Park’s two acts are set 50 years apart. Act One takes place where the 1959 A Raisin in the Sun leaves off: with a white couple selling their home to a black family and causing uproar among their neighbors. Act Two takes place fifty years later with a black family selling the house to a white family who believe in urban gentrification – or do they?
The cast features Carol Halstead (Bev/Kathy), recently seen on Broadway in Gore Vidal’s The Best Man; Clea Alsip (Betsey/Lindsey) Long Wharf Theatre’s The Killing of Sister George opposite Kathleen Turner; Kevin Crouch (Jim/Tom/Kenneth) recently performed in His Girl Friday at Connecticut Reperatory Theatre; Lynette R. Freeman (Francine/Lena) recently played Ruth in A Raisin in the Sun at the Arkansas Reperatory Theatre; Andy Lucien (Albert/Kevin), recently seen in The Last Seder at Theater Three; Greg Jackson (Karl/Steve) co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in the off-Broadway hit Duet!; and Remi Sandri (Russ/Dan), who starred in the East coast premiere of The North Pool at Barrington Stage.
The production is designed by Narelle Sissons (Sets), Barbara A. Bell (Costumes), Michael Giannitti (Lights) and Ryan Rumery (Sound). Marjorie Ann Wood is the production stage manager.
Bruce Norris is the author of Clybourne Park, which won the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards (London) for Best Play, 2010, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 2011. Other plays include The Infidel (2000), Purple Heart (2002), We All Went Down to Amsterdam (2003), The Pain and the Itch (2004), The Unmentionables (2006) and A Parallelogram (2010) all of which had their premieres at Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago. His newest play, Domesticated, will be produced by Lincoln Center Theatre in 2013. His work has been seen at Playwrights Horizons (New York), Woolly Mammoth Theatre (Washington D.C.) n (Chicago), Philadelphia Theatre Company, and Staatstheater Mainz (Germany), among others. He is also the 2009 recipient of the Steinberg Playwright Award.

About Barrington Stage Company
Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage’s mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre—especially young people. Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it workshopped, and premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway and played for two years. Barrington Stage was voted “Best Live Theatre” by The Berkshire Eagle readers in 2011 and 2012 and was named “Best Theatre Company” in Metroland’s Best of the Capital Region 2009-2012.
