RECEIVES $70K SHUBERT FOUNDATION GRANT
IN SUPPORT OF 2015 SEASON
(PITTSFIELD, MA) Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $70,000 grant from The Shubert Foundation.
The Shubert Foundation, Inc., bestowed $24 million to 488 nonprofit arts organizations in 46 states through its grants program for 2015. Granted in the category of Theatre, the award will support Barrington Stage Company’s 2015 season.
“We are thrilled with the Shubert Foundation support,” said Julianne Boyd. “It’s an important grant for any arts organization to receive since it recognizes excellence in the field by one of the prestigious granting organizations in the United States.”
The 70 year old foundation is sole shareholder of the Shubert Organization, Inc., which runs 17 Broadway and six Off Broadway theaters. The foundation’s grants program has awarded more than $360 million since its launch in 1977.
Ranging from $10,000-$325,000, the grants benefit a broad spectrum of arts organizations — large to small — that cover a wide range of locations around the country, from urban to rural. The Shubert Foundation is especially interested in providing support to professional resident theatres that develop and produce new American work.
Barrington Stage Company’s 2015 season, running from May through October, includes Man of La Mancha, Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers, His Girl Friday, and Veils on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage; Butler, Shining City, the Musical Theatre Lab premiere of A Little More Alive, and Engagements on The St. Germain Stage; as well as numerous special concerts, cabarets, and the Youth Theatre production of Shrek!

Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd.
