Musical Theatre Apprentice Program

Musical Theatre Apprentice with William Finn

2011 Musical Theatre Apprentices perform with Tony-winning composer/lyricist William Finn

Each season, four Musical Theatre Apprentices (MTA) are selected to work with top-level New York directors, choreographers and composers during its summer season from June through August. For the 2012 season, apprentices will perform in one Mainstage show, in weekly cabarets under the supervision of William Finn, and in a new one-act musical directed by a Drama League Fellow. They will also participate in 12 master classes. Previous classes have been led by Broadway legends Christopher Innvar (Floyd Collins, Porgy and Bess), Marin Mazzie (Ragtime, Next to Normal) and Jason Danieley (Candide, Curtains), TV Star Debra Jo Rupp (That 70′s Show), and famed composer William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).

{Applications for the 2012 Season are now closed.}
The cost of the MTA program is $2,500 with limited scholarships available. Housing is provided. To apply, prepare a video with two songs, one uptempo and one ballad, and send the YouTube link along with a resume and headshot to Hester Kamin, Director of Education, at hkamin@barringtonstageco.org.
